CPA Marketing From Zero To Hero
What Is CPA Marketing?
CPA Marketing From Zero To Hero Part 2. In fact, CPA marketing is a lead generation platform whereby people are getting paid to generate leads. CPA Marketing has been hugely popular in the last few years because more companies are trying to capture online sales and realize lead generation can be massively profitable. They are willing to pay you and me handsomely for these leads so it is our job to effectively get the leads ourselves and then sell them to these companies. Of course, this process is streamlined and much easier than I probably made it sound!
CPA Marketing is a type of marketing under the affiliate marketing section where instead of selling somebody else’s product, people only need someone to perform a certain action, Cost Per Action or CPA.

#2: Coupon Method
We’re promoting free gift cards or anything free or free trial related. People LOVE free stuff! Now I bet you’re wondering how you’re going to get traffic to your offer, aren’t you? Where do people who like free stuff and good deals like to hang out? COUPON SITES of course and that is where we will put our offer In front of THOUSANDS of targeted people looking for a deal. A quick google search for “coupons” or “coupon sites”, will give you a large list of sites you can start with. Let’s take a look.
Now let’s go inside one of these forums and see what we have to do to post.
Ok so we clicked on hot coupon world and then clicked on “coupon forum” at the top right.
And see we can find…
Now If that isn’t a gold mine I don’t know what is.. Just register and CAREFULLY start posting in the “online deals” and “freebie” sections of all the sites you want to. Be careful and DO NOT make it look like spam or you will ruin it for yourself!
Look at some of the other posts and you will see that they aren’t trying to “sell” the product on people they simply give them the info and the link.
So try and post in that manner.
Also, don’t put your ugly affiliate link, use anchor text like this.
Just highlight the word you want to use and click the icon I have circled, then put your link in the pop up box and click OK.
– Generate High Attention To Your Posts
This is the “make or break” part of the whole exercise. Like with any other method
you need to write your posts in such a way that they get maximum attention from your prospects and convert that traffic into leads. Forums are essentially places for social interaction and you are likely to see much greater success if other users perceive you as one amongst them (than as an affiliate marketer desperately trying to push his offers). Once you register at some of these forums (I would advise you to register at 5-10 of them. Use Roboform or other forms fill up software for quick registrations), wait for 2-4 days before you promote anything (if you start posting your affiliate offers right away, they may delete your posts or even ban you from the forum). In this duration try to contribute as much as you can. Participate in discussions and build your post count to at least 15 posts.
Once you have built some reputation, create a new thread, letting others know about your free CPA offer.
Create a title like above, check the countries where the offer is available and write a brief description of the offer.
– Insert Your Affiliate Links Correctly:
This is very important. You should never post naked affiliate links as this will invite a prompt deletion of your posts.
Instead, use the hyperlinking feature. Here is how to create a hyperlink:
Just highlight the word (left click and move your cursor over the word) where you want to insert your affiliate link
Now click on the “link” button:
A pop-up will appear. Insert your affiliate link in the box as shown below:
Hit the “OK” button and post your thread Here is an example of an excellent post:
“Yesterday I came across this site where they are giving away
$500 VISA gift cards. You can use these cards at any major online or offline retailer. If you are also willing to get your free card, just go HERE [Your Affiliate link here] and follow the tips and instructions. You’ll be able to get your gift card immediately .I got mine yesterday. This offer is expiring soon so take advantage of it
right away.”
That’s all…Now copy the post and paste it on other forums too (I generally post an
offer on 5-10 forums).
These forums should provide you with enough traffic to make +$200 and more a day on your own. If you generate only 170 leads per day promoting $1.60 email submit an offer you will make $272 in a single day.

#3: College Method
It all started the last year when I walked into my usual lecture theatre at college. Upon sitting down in my seat, I looked around noticed that there was a little sheet of paper on everyone’s desk advertising the current specials at a nearby college bookshop.
Note: This method can be outsourced and I included an outsourcing guide at the end of this section.
It was here that I was amazed at what I saw. After all of about 5 minutes, it seemed that nearly every student with a laptop had opened it up and headed straight to the given website for the bookshop to check out the latest offers.
I thought that if I could just find a decent offer, the rest would work itself out as I have found a perfect place to advertise my offers.
A week later, I took the plunge and decided to give it a go myself. I had a look at some potential offers on various CPA networks and found a few that I thought would work nicely. I decided to go with one that was offering a chance to win $2,000 and an iPad just for signing up, which I thought would be great given my target audience, was a bunch of students like myself.
Next, I created a little advertisement for one of the offers and printed out 300 copies to put on all the desks in my next lecture. During the 10 minute break between the previous lecture finishing and mine starting, I went in and placed one on each desk before sitting down.
At this stage, I had opened my laptop and headed over to my CPA network
website to track any money that I could potentially make. All I could do now was just wait and see what happens. As people started to fill the room, I had a look around and most of them were having a read through my piece of paper while talking to their friends.
To my great delight, I started to notice more and more people head over to the offer website and fill in the registration form. A couple of them even filled it in more than once using their various email addresses to increase their chance of winning the prize. A few had put the link up on their Facebook pages to encourage their friends to register in order to win the prize offered which I am sure probably made me a bit more money from people I did not even directly advertise to!
By the end of the day, I had 192 sign ups from the 300 small pieces of paper that I had handed out. The offer that I had selected paid $3 per sign up. This amounted to $3 x 192 = $576 in just one day! The best part was that most people left the sheets of paper on their desk as they left so it was there for the next people to come into the room and see.
For the remainder of the month, I printed out about 300-400 little advertisements every few days and placed them in random lecture theatres around the college during the 10-minute downtime between lectures finishing and starting. I also paid a few friends to do the same thing at different colleges so we could reach as many people as we could with the offer.
By the end of the month, I had made $17,200 from commissions which averaged out to be about $560/day or about 190 people completing the offer each day.
I tried it myself just in the first month, But in the second month, I hired someone else to do it. You will learn how to outsource it at the end of this section.
So let’s go Step by Step:
– College scouting
To start off with, you will obviously need to choose a college near you. As with any marketing project, the larger the targeted traffic, the better. My college had about 30,000 current students so just think about the massive money making a possibility. If I was able to get all 30,000 of them to sign up, I would have made $90,000!!
Once you have selected a college to target, the next part is to either go there yourself and plan where you are going to lay out your offers or ask whoever it is you are outsourcing to, to scout it out a bit.
By having a look around and knowing where to expect people to be going and at what times, it will be easy for you to choose a time to enter the buildings and put your CPA offer on each of the seats.
– Find a perfect CPA offer to use
There is no point offering a bunch of students something that they have no interest in! Offers that work best are ones that give the person a chance to win a cash prize for entering in some basic information (Name, email address and maybe answers to some quick questions).
Prizes like iPods, store vouchers, etc. all work great. People will only take the effort to enter these details if they believe they have a chance to win something that is valuable to them.
Try to stay away from CPA offers that involve the person completing a long survey, most students just want something quick to do in the 5 minutes while they wait for their professor/lecturer to arrive and teach them.
Think about the offer before you decide to go with it. Ask yourself, “If I had 5 minutes, would I bother doing <the required work for the offer> in order to have a change of winning <the incentive>”
It is often best to choose a CPA offer that pays a bit lower but also requires a lot less effort to complete. Any offer in the $1-$6/lead range will work the best.
– Create your paper advertisements
In case you do not want to create your own from scratch, I have included a basic template in the next step for you to use as an outline.
You need to create something that is directly targeted at the students and is not generic.
Since you know the college that you are going to place the advertisements in, use this to your advantage. Make sure you include the college name on the advertisement so it looks a lot more official and makes the students think that the offer is only for them. Phrases like “Students of <college name>, WIN <the incentive> right now!”
It is important not to clutter the page with words or you will not get many
people bothering to read it. Have the important things like the above phrase, the prize offered, and the website they must go to in large font so it stands out the most. What you want to do is grab their attention with the prospect of winning a prize. In smaller font, include details like how to complete the offer and how long it will take.
You can either use your direct CPA offer link or mask it in any way you see fit. I have found that registering a domain name which forwards visitors to my CPA offer works great.
– How to Deliver your advertisements
Now that you have created your advertisement, the next step is to go ahead a deliver them.
Place one advertisement on each seat/desk of the chosen room. If you can access a room with computers, you will get even higher conversion rates since everyone in that room will be on a computer and will be more inclined to complete your offer.
It is important not to make different offers every day of the week and put them in the same rooms. Eventually, people will get sick of doing them and won’t bother anymore.
Target different rooms with your offers so you can get your offer to the widest range of people possible. Repeat the process with a different offer twice per month as a maximum. If you make a new offer every week then you will notice a decline in the number of people completing the offer.
Once you have been successful with a campaign at one college, move on to another one and give the previous one a break. This will ensure people will eager to see your next offer since they know it is a limited time offer.
– The Offer Template
You do not need to have a whole A4 piece of paper for just 1 advertisement. To save paper and printing costs, printing 4 per page and then cutting them out works great. This means that for 400 advertisements, you will only need 100 sheets of paper!
Below, you will see a basic template that you can copy and use for yourself. This is the same template that I used for my offers so it will give you the best chance to be as successful as myself.
– How To Outsource It
Treat outsourcing this system the exact same way as you would treat anything else that you outsource. Most people will choose to outsource the work to someone who they know that goes to college so this outsourcing guide will probably not be needed for you.
You can use websites such as Fiverr, Craigslist, Odesk, Freelancer, College forums, or any of the usual outsourcing locations. Personally, I think craigslist is a good place to find workers for a good price. Try to hire a student to do the work for you because they will already know the best places to put your flyers at their college.
It is 100% up to you to decide how much you wish to pay your workers, there is no set amount. Keep in mind that generally; the more you pay them, the more effort they will put into the work which will get you better results.
If you are worried about someone taking your money and not doing the work, there are a few solutions for you. I recommend paying your worker a few dollars up front for the printing costs and then paying them for the actual job once they have done it. You can ask them to take a photo of where they placed the flyers as proof but in most cases, you will be able to see if they have done the work by looking at the results in your CPA network account.
Finally, I always recommend that you split test a few different offers at a few different colleges. Once you know which offer is converting the best then it is simply a matter of scaling it up to make more money!

#4: Article Submitting Method
Another great way of making solid profits from CPA offers is by writing articles and submitting them to article directories. My focus with my article writing has always been ezinearticles.com since they generate the most traffic out of all the directories. That’s not to say that you cannot have good success with others, it’s just that it’s my personal favorite.
We’ve already gone through the process of selecting a CPA product, so I’m assuming at this stage you’ll know what offer you would like to promote. To keep the examples uninformed, I’m going to go with “Acai Berry” again as the example CPA offer. Using the keyword research way, we would now have a set of keywords that we would want to target, and the articles we’ll be writing will be based off these keywords.
By default, you can only submit a maximum of 10 articles to EzineArticles.com when you register your first account. You should write ten high-quality articles that focus on your major keywords and submit them to EzineArticles.com. That should be your first step.
You need to keep in mind that your resource box needs to be targeted to your CPA product. For example, your article discusses the “benefits of acai berry” then in your Resource Box, you’ll have the text “soft promoting” your CPA offer. I mentioned “soft promoting” since you do not want it to sound like a blatant infomercial. Instead, make it appear more as a recommendation.
It’s best to not direct link to the CPA offer, but instead you can create a frame box for the offer that re-directs off your actual website or domain you have. I’ve posted an example of how the frame box code can appear below.
<html>
<head>
<title>Your CPA Offer Title</title>
<META name=”description” content=”CPA Offer Description“><META name=”keywords” content=”CPA offer keywords“>
</head>
<frameset rows=”100%,*” border=”0″>
<frame src=”http://YourCPAaffiliatelinkHere.com” frameborder=”0″ />
<frame frameborder=”0″ noresize />
</frameset>
<!– pageok –> <!– 07 –>
<!– 7.9–> </html>
In this code pasted above, this is “masking” and “framing” the CPA offer. The person visiting your site will still see your domain as the site they are browsing but it’s actually within a frame that is not visible, therefore masking the offer. Behind the scenes, your affiliate offer is loaded through a frame re-direct.
This should be done for all your links within the article directories. You can simply put your in one of the boxes and will point to your CPA offer but use the masked page mentioned above.
With your ten articles written for EzineArticles.com, then the next step is to write ten more articles, but this time these articles will be submitted to the other directories. You can mass submit these articles to as many directories as you want. Just ensure that these ten articles different from the ones you submitted to ezinearticles.com. You can use the software below by Brad Callen for mass article submission. Currently, it is free to download.
http://directorysubmitter.imwishlist.com/
Use the software above to mass submit your ten articles and ensure that your resource box is set to your domain which redirected to your affiliate link. You repeat this process for every CPA offer niche that you have.
It’s a great way to utilize the power of article promotion.
Another tip that is very important is to review the top articles and authors within the niche you are promoting. For example, if your offer is “acai berry” then your niche maybe “weight loss” so you would want to review the top authors in that category along with the top articles in that category to follow what they are doing to ensure you receive as many views as possible.
If you write your articles targeted to a specific buyer and long tail keywords, there is a good chance your article can rank in the top ten under those specific keywords. To further increase the chances of your articles ranking high, you can take it a step further by social bookmarking each article you submit. The easiest free way of going about social bookmarking is to use the site below:
http://www.socialmarker.com
Also if you are a little lazy or don’t want to write articles, you can hire people at iwriter.com to write quality articles for $3-$10.

#5: Newspaper Method
This is one of an excellent method and while it does cost a few bucks to get going, it has the potential to make you a FULL-time income.
We are going to be advertising our CPA offers in our hometown (or any town for that matter) newspapers.
This is a method I just recently started and so far I am amazed at the results I have been getting.
It all started a few months back at my local gas station when I picked up a Sunday paper and saw a big square on the front page that said: “advertise here”. So I call up the newspaper and they tell me that for a spot on the first page in the Sunday edition it would cost me $25 Now this paper goes out to the whole county so I jumped right on it.
I went and bought a .com domain and redirected it to an iphone7 offer since the highly anticipated release was just around the corner. (You learned how to redirect a domain to a CPA offer I the previous section.)
Then I wrote the 5 line ad copy and scheduled the ad with them. On the Sunday the paper came out I made $1100 on that iPhone offer and at least $200 every day for the rest of the week.
I still use this method at least once a month testing out different offers each time, weight loss and insurance offers do well with this method..
Note: price for a newspaper ad will be different for every newspaper you contact.
Also your paper might not be advertising that they have advertising available but trust me, they all do, So contact them and tell them what you want to do.
#6: PPC (Pay Per Click) Method
When you are setting up a PPC campaign for promoting CPA offers it can be a hit or miss depending on the campaign being promoted. That’s why it’s going to be critical that you do some split tests when promoting your CPA offers, as some offers will convert while others may bomb.
The first network that I like to test my offers with is Google Adwords. It’s fast and easy to get setup, and you could start seeing conversions quickly if you have a winning campaign. The most important aspect though of your PPC campaign will be how much you pay per click on your ad and this will be based on your niche.
If we try the example like before which was “acai berry” then the competition in that niche for PPC is fierce, so to get any exposure you will need to be prepared to place a high bid. The bid range for that keyword can range from $1-4 per click on average. Your bid amount though can drop if you utilize the “buyer keywords” as mentioned earlier in the report.
The keywords that focus on specific product names will usually have a lower per click rate than the “generic” terms. The searches may be less but the per click rate will be lower and should be less competition in general. Your main competition will perhaps be from those trying to promote the product as well.
For Google Adwords PPC it is best to use the Google Keyword External Tool, you’ll find keywords with a low CPC that are still receiving enough traffic to warrant bids. Your goal will be to get as many of these keywords as possible, and when combined these keywords can give you enough traffic to generate a good income from your CPA offers.
For example, if you are promoting an email submit offer about free movie tickets, then why not research the top movies coming out in the next few months and place bids on the keywords related to those movies. There are sites where you can review the upcoming movies and place bids on those keywords and receive targeted traffic.
The CPC will be low and the conversion can be high and since your CPA offer is about getting free movie tickets and it’s targeted to your niche.
When you create your ads for PPC with Google it is best to have your ad units tightly knit together in terms of the keywords. Do not stuff each ad group with a bunch of keywords that do not relate to each other.
For example, you take your main ad group keyword, which in this case we’ll say is “buy acai” and within that ad group all the words will be about “buy acai”. You can have keywords such as “buy acai online” or “buy acai supplements”. The ad group would have these types of ads within the group under that main keyword term. You’ll also create a variety of ads within the group to match the keywords.
Finally, once your ad groups are targeted and created, the landing pages for each of your ad groups need to be relevant. This means that for best results and to achieve a high-quality score from Google, that your landing page is set up to target the keywords within your ad group. The more targeted your landing page is to your ad group, the better your quality score will be for your Google PPC campaign.
Keep in mind that with your quality score, it means, in the long run, your cost per bid will drop, which is the ultimate goal. You want to pay as little as possible for the traffic you receive, so you’ll need to make the extra effort to keep your ad groups targeted along with your landing pages.
Keep testing your campaigns, and eliminate the ad groups that are not performing or having a poor CTR. If you keep ads with poor CTR (Click Through Ratio) it will have an adverse effect on your entire campaign, so you will want to continue to tweak your ads until you’ve reached an optimal CTR.
Always remember that with PPC it’s not a set and forget method until you’ve truly had a winning ad. To achieve this it will take testing, you’ll have some winners, and you’ll have some losers. This information is primarily for Google, but it can work the same in the other ad networks as well.
Microsoft Adcenter
Often overlooked, but Microsoft Ad Center can provide you with a solid return on your investment as well. Usually, the CPC (Cost Per Click) is lower with Microsoft than Google. With that said, the traffic is also a bit lower, so you’ll have to take the pros with the cons. I believe strongly though that you can find quite a few buyers with Microsoft, so you should give them a try with your CPA offers.
The same principles apply regarding grouping your ads properly, as this is also wise to do for organization purposes. By grouping your ads based on set keywords and landing pages, you are able to better target what keywords are winners and which are duds.
The keyword research for Microsoft PPC should be done entirely using their internal tool. Do not use Google’s tool, as the numbers will be inflated. Use the data that Microsoft provides as it will give you a more accurate expectation regarding the amount of traffic you can expect to receive.
Before you start on any campaigns research the companies that are placing bids on the keyword terms that you are interested in placing a bid on, so that you can analyze your competition. Review exactly what they are offering and how you can ensure that your offer stands above what they are offering.
Keep in mind that you do not have to get into a bidding war for the number one position to receive a good CTR, but it’s the title of your ad that will be the most important. From experience asking a question and ensuring that the keyword being searched is in your title will increase your CTR and relevancy.
You need to give the user a reason to click on your ad and ensure that the reason is fulfilled on your landing page. If your offer does not live up to the title, then your conversion rate will suffer. So above all else, your title, and your landing page need to go hand in hand. The title and body description of your ad entices the user to click, and your landing page should deliver exactly as promised in the ad.
Yahoo Search Network
Yahoo is a great network to use as well for your PPC campaigns. The price can range in the middle ground when comparing it to Microsoft Ad Center and Google Adwords.
As noted you should use Yahoo’s own suggestion tool for your PPC campaigns, but you’ll find that the keywords that worked with the other two networks will do well here also. Most of your research would have been done already by the time you come to Yahoo, so it’s only a matter of seeing which offers appeal to Yahoo searchers.
Be sure you have a set campaign limit with Yahoo, as the money can be used up pretty quickly along with their automatic re-charging. It is best that you never use your debit card with Yahoo as based on your campaign settings, they will continue to re-charge your account whenever it’s in danger of being “depleted”, so always use a credit
card, so that it doesn’t affect your actual bank account. Do not get involved in any bid wars with Yahoo advertisers, and be sure that you always have the keywords within your ad title and body.
When possible, as with the other networks it will help with your CTR. As recommended by Google Adwords, you should also use a relevant landing page. This is to ensure that your keywords are accepted when reviewed manually. Some of the search editors deny users based on their landing pages not being relevant to the keywords they are bidding on, so always ensure that your landing pages are highly relevant towards your keywords.
It should also go without saying that you will need to track your campaigns. Keep the campaigns that are performing well, and eliminate the deadbeat keywords.
